The government has stepped up its efforts to curb the depletion of the ozone layer through an administration order that phases out harmful chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in car aircon systems. (R12, an ozone depleting substance, is still widely used as a cooling agent in auto air conditioning systems).

The first CIGI CryoFill Services was successfully conducted in a Philips F2000 Magnet at a large private hospital last May 30, 2006. CIGI is the only company in the Philippines that has the capability to offer both helium supply and cryofill service.

In line with the re-launching of ammonia in SIG, a 3-day ammonia product knowledge, cylinder handling and emergency response training was rolled-out last May 28-29 in Davao for the Southern Mindanao region, April 4-5 in Cagayan de Oro for Northern Mindanao region and April 6-7 in Cebu for the whole Visayas region.
