Shaping The Future of the Gases Industry in the Philippines
|
 27 March 2008, Manila – Consolidated Industrial Gas, Inc. (CIGI) and Southern Industrial Gases, Philippines, Inc. (SIG) have invested a total of P1.3 billion in the upgrading and expansion of its plants in Sta. Rosa, Laguna and Cebu. Both CIGI and SIG are members of The Linde Group, a leading gases and engineering company worldwide.
This was announced by Dennis Jordan, CIGI and SIG managing director, during the inauguration of the Sta. Rosa ASU plant on March 27, 2008. “Such an investment affirms our commitment to provide world-class and reliable gases supply to manufacturing and service industries in the Philippines, such as electronics, healthcare, steel, petrochemical, manufacturing and shipbuilding,” said Jordan. “It also reflects The Linde Group’s confidence in the long-term prospects of the Philippine economy.”
CIGI, the leading industrial and medical gases company in the Philippines, has invested P300 million in the upgrading and expansion of the air separation plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The Sta. Rosa plant will complement the production facilities of CIGI in Apalit, Pampanga as well as their extensive network of onsite production plants.
In addition, its affiliate, Southern Industrial Gases, has invested P1 billion for a new air separation plant in Cebu. This is the single largest investment by The Linde Group in Southern Philippines to-date. The SIG plant shall support the requirements of the growing industries in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Jordan said, “Our 28 years of existence and leadership in the gases industry in the country demonstrate our commitment to support the growth of our customers and the development of local industries.”
