December 17, 2009 SAP Goes Live in SIG
|
SAP goes live in southern Philippines December 1 was a day of celebration for the SIG business in the southern Philippines as the full scope of SAP simultaneously went live across all its 24 sites. The go-live is the fruit of 6 months of hardwork by the Philippines IS team supported by the regional team. Half a year ago on 8 June 2009, the team kicked off Project Mactan which was implemented to replace the existing system with the full scope SAP. Explained Dennis Jordan, Country Head for the Philippines, “The last 2 years have been phenomenal for SIG as we witnessed the financial turnaround of the business. We had invested in various aspects of the business such as making improvements in the corporate office and operations sites, and purchasing new cylinders and delivery trucks. By early next year, our new air separation plant in Cebu, our first ASU in the south, will be operational. As our business needs grew, so did our systems needs.” To address the need, and as a step towards aligning its system with the regional and global system, SIG in October 2007 implemented the SAP finance & control module which covered general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets and internal orders. Said Rynda Aldueza, Head of IS, Philippines, “Project Mactan was implemented to replace the other applications such as billing, inventory & purchasing which were still running on legacy technology. With the SAP customer and supply processes modules in place, the entire SIG operations will now be managed on a single platform with resultant information provision benefits. It will equip the organisation with the ability to support business continuity and growth agenda while at the same time enable it to align with regional initiatives.” |
