CIGI Cryogenic Center is Now on Remote Operations
|
 On December 2, the CIGI Cryogenic Center at Apalit, Pampanga became the first plant to be remotely operated by the Linde RSE ROC (Region South & East Asia remote operating center). The transfer of operational control of the Apalit plant to the RSE ROC was marked with an opening ceremony attended by South & East Asia Managing Director Sanjiv Lamba and the ROC staff in Singapore and Philippines Country Head Dennis Jordan and the CIGI management team at Apalit, Pampanga.
The transfer was achieved one month ahead schedule, thanks to the combined effort of the CIGI Operations team led by Melvin Catu, the RSE Instrumentation and Process Control team led by Kittipong Charoongchit, Azrul Aziz and Prabu Reddy from IS and the ROC team.
The ROC serves as the ‘nerve centre’ for RSE’s major production facilities, says Ian Minto, RSE Head of ASU Operations, Bulk Distribution and CES. It is capable of remotely accessing data and tracking our operations in air separation, carbon dioxide and small hydrogen plants in the region. It helps to optimise plant reliability and efficiency while ensuring product quality for customers in the region. “For example, as the computer system at the ROC is able to capture real time data, any process upset can be traced, and the root cause of all significant downtime incidents can be identified and corrective actions implemented quickly,” said Ian.
The ROC is modelled on existing ROC facilities in the UK, USA, Sweden and Australia and is currently manned by 11 staff. The RSE ROC Team will work closely with the Apalit Operations team led by Alecks Lebantino to improve plant performance at the Apalit production facility.
